Oceanport Boro Council Candidate
William "Bill" McVitty

Bill working with Congressman Rush Holt.
Statement from Bill McVitty
I seek my first council seat as we approach a critical time Oceanport. With the current uncertainty of our financial markets we need elected officials that can manage for the future, fill our community’s needs, and save tax dollars. This has been a key area of success for our Board of Education, where I am currently the Vice President. Along with our Board President, I serve on our Shared Services Committee, meeting with other local Boards of Education, finding our intersections and opportunities. One example of a recent success is saving the taxpayers of Oceanport an estimated $50,000 by having Shore Regional provide our bus transportation. We continue to look for more intersects and opportunities to save even more. My decisions for our Borough are driven by data, not supposition, and I use all resources available to me in that process. As past Chairman of Personnel, I have negotiated successful and fair contracts with every employee group in our school system. With times being what they are we are all very concerned with the safety of our children, and I am very proud to be the co-creator of the Boards Safety & Security committee. Oceanport also has the unique honor of having Monmouth Park within our boundaries. It’s my recommendation we plan with them to assure our mutual future successes. We understand their issues, let’s work with them, not against them. Again, they are a key component of our future.
